Drained

Some nights, like this one, I get home from the office without an ounce of energy left to devote to anything else. I've been trying to cut some time to work on this blog and, ultimately, the rest of my website, but lately all I've felt like doing is vegging in front of the computer and getting lost in my music. Doesn't take much brainpower to get lost.

I recently have been spending more time getting acquainted with last.fm and its useful tools that allow users to take the pulse on their listening habits. I'm scrobbling all plays of my iTunes library, so when you see I have 123,000-plus scrobbles you'll probably think, "Man, that guy must spend all his time listening to music." Truth is, I do listen to a lot of music, but that total represents the past six-and-a-half years. I was quite interested to see my top 10 most played artists. No surprise that Dave Edmunds and Restless are high on the list. An homage to my rockabilly and roots rock phase. Wanda Jackson makes it to number three only because I have nearly 600 songs of hers in my library (which my wife thinks is waaaay too many, and she could be right.) And The Beatles are at number nine, a bit of a surprise to me because I don't have all their albums and don't listen often to those I do have. My current favorite band, Mother Mother, is moving up in my play count list; the band just took over my 15th spot and will undoubtedly eventually make my top 10.

But enough of my musical tastes. This blog will chiefly be about my writing and my progress toward getting a book published. I'll have much more to say about this, but not tonight. It's already 2:15 and I'm not feeling too literarily inclined.
